Advances in dental implants over the past several years have made immediate treatment possible. Immediate load implants, commonly known as same day dental implants, allow the patient to have their tooth replaced the same day as their appointment or a damaged tooth is extracted.
Same Day Dental Implants For A Beautiful Smile
At your initial consultation, you will meet with Dr. Parsa T. Zadeh, DDS, who has the knowledge and expertise to give you the very best treatment possible. Thanks to his decades of experience, Dr. Zadeh will handle your case quickly and with minimum discomfort and inconvenience.
Whether you are missing a tooth or require an extraction and replacement, you can be evaluated for dental implants. During your evaluation, you will have your dental history reviewed thoroughly. This is done to ensure your safety and to make sure you are a good candidate for immediate implants. Nearly all patients who are healthy enough for an extraction are healthy enough for implants.
During your consultation, Dr. Zadeh will take extensive digital X-Rays and CT Scans of your mouth, teeth, and gums. He works down to the smallest detail of your case and determines if there is any problem areas that need to be addressed. This is done to make sure your pending implant will be successfully placed. He will also take impressions of your teeth to create the perfect fit in relation to your other teeth.
As an experienced dental implant surgeon, he will be with you from start to finish. There are no other doctors involved or use of “team” dentistry. His intimate understanding of your case will ensure that you get the best treatment possible. This will also ensure there is no confusion or disagreement on the results you want between different doctors. It is all part of our philosophy, that here, you are the celebrity.
The Process of Immediate Dental Implants
In the case of same day dental implants, Dr. Zadeh will immediately place a titanium or zirconia post into the socket where the tooth sat. Once this is installed, you will have an abutment and crown placed, which will serve as your replacement tooth.
Your temporary and permanent crowns are manufactured in-house with our state of the art CEREC machine. The tooth will be colored and shaped to match the rest of your teeth, ensuring that your smile will have a healthy and natural appearance. Don’t worry about messy, unpleasant tasting moulding clays! Your impressions will be taken by an advanced CAD/CAM machine that creates a digital image of your mouth.
While you heal, you are given a temporary crown which will serve as your new tooth. This temporary is used until the dental implant bonds properly to your bone and your surgery heals.
After several months, the implant will bond to your jawbone and become a part of your body. You will likely come in a couple of times before your permanent crown placement to make sure everything is healing properly. This will also ensure that any adjustments or changes necessary can be done without disrupting the healing process.
Risks of Same Day Implants
While immediate implants are a popular option for many patients, they do carry some risks that a more traditional implant placement does not. Patients who have a lingering infection or a weakened jaw bone may not be able to accept an implant. However, Dr. Zadeh is very careful to make sure you and your jaw are healthy enough to accept the implant before he attempts surgery. If there is any chance of rejection, he will discuss your options and try to find a mid-term solution until your jaw is healthy enough to receive an implant.
With extractions, there is a slightly elevated risk of failure because of the slight trauma to the jaw bone and gums that may occur when a tooth is removed. However, failure incidents are exceedingly rare if you follow Dr. Zadeh’s instructions and maintain a good dental hygiene regimen and keep your follow-up appointments.
The most important factor in ensuring your implant does not go bad is to maintain and/or improve your dental hygiene. Dr. Zadeh’s depth of knowledge and years of experience have helped him achieve an astounding success rate of over 99% with same-day implants. Patients who follow his advice never have an implant failure because of neglect. Most complications of same-day implants generally arise from improper care and placement by the dentist. Sometimes, the patient appeared to be a good candidate but health issues or other problems arose after the placement of the implant. When this occurs, Dr. Zadeh has worked quickly to either fix the implant or provide the patient with an equivalent treatment to maintain their oral health.
If a patient works with and follows Dr. Zadeh’s instructions and keeps their checkup appointments, the rate of success for immediate-loading implant have been nearly perfect over the course of his nearly 30 year career. Many patients also come to Dr. Zadeh because previous implants from other dentists were done improperly or failed. With implants, it is important to spend the money, as it is a delicate procedure and needs skilled and knowledgeable work to be done properly.
If you experience any significant pain beyond the normal soreness after surgery, please call Dr. Zadeh immediately. Sometimes patients will reject implants for no apparent reason and we want to ensure that there will be no damage to your mouth or jaw from a rejected implant. This is especially important if soreness subsided, and then pain flares up a month or two after the fact. Oftentimes, this rare occurrence is simply the body adjusting, but it is always important to take any pain after surgery seriously.
